Education is paramount, and our children are our most precious resource. Idaho must continue to strive for excellence in education, ensuring that K-12 schools, colleges, and universities receive the support they need to provide quality education. We aim to encourage our youth to pursue further education, whether it be for a degree or technical training, by offering pathways for their academic and career development. It's imperative that we prioritize the security of our schools, which is why we are focusing on enhancing safety measures and infrastructure. By allocating more resources to improve school facilities, we enable local authorities to hire additional security staff, further safeguarding our students and educators.

To achieve these goals, I have personally visited the majority of schools in my district to witness firsthand the exceptional teaching and learning environments. I firmly believe that our students deserve the best education possible, and I am committed to maintaining and enhancing the high standards of education in our state. Furthermore, I advocate for the prudent allocation of tax dollars, ensuring that they are directed towards supporting only public and charter schools. Idaho is fortunate to offer a diverse range of educational options, including public, charter, private, and homeschooling opportunities. By preserving our state's robust school choice policies, parents can make informed decisions about their children's education, ensuring that every child has access to the educational environment that best suits their needs and aspirations.

Infrastructure is vital for the growth and prosperity of Idaho's economy. Our roads and bridges must be properly maintained to facilitate the transportation of goods and resources, enabling farmers and businesses to access markets efficiently. Additionally, broadband infrastructure is essential for ensuring that all Idahoans have access to high-speed internet, regardless of their location within the state.

In addressing infrastructure needs, one pressing issue is the longstanding discussion around the construction of a third river crossing. Despite being on the agenda for the past 30 years, the urgency of this project has never been greater. As such, I am committed to ensuring its completion. To achieve this goal, I have engaged in discussions with the Governor and various stakeholders to explore financing options, conduct feasibility studies, and determine the optimal location for the crossing. While this undertaking presents significant challenges, its importance to multiple counties cannot be overstated.

To advance this project, I have collaborated closely with our Congressional representatives, garnering their support and advocacy at the federal level. Additionally, I have worked alongside County Commissioners and our local transportation committee to develop a comprehensive strategy for moving the project forward. By leveraging partnerships and engaging with key stakeholders, we are laying the groundwork for the successful implementation of this critical infrastructure initiative, which will benefit our communities and economy for generations to come.

Ensuring a drug-free Idaho is paramount in safeguarding the well-being of our communities. Linda Wright Hartgen strongly advocates for the Esto Perpetua project, which aims to prevent the infiltration of Fentanyl into our state and mitigate its harmful effects.

In addition to supporting initiatives like Esto Perpetua, it is crucial to maintain mandatory minimums for drug trafficking offenses. While adjustments may be considered, it is essential to uphold these standards as a deterrent against drug-related crimes.

Furthermore, Linda is committed to voting in favor of legislation that effectively addresses drug-related issues and prioritizes the protection of our youth from substance abuse. By advocating for stringent drug policies and supporting initiatives focused on prevention and intervention, Linda strives to create a safer and drug-free environment for all Idahoans.

Water is a vital resource that must be safeguarded and responsibly managed in Idaho. It is imperative that we prioritize the replenishment of our aquifers and adopt sustainable practices to ensure the long-term health of our water supply.

In addition to these efforts, we are actively advancing legislation aimed at improving water management practices. By passing key water bills, we aim to enhance our understanding of water usage and implement measures to better regulate and conserve this invaluable resource. These legislative initiatives are essential steps towards achieving effective water management and safeguarding our water for future generations.

To address these challenges, we are diligently working to develop practical solutions. This includes allocating resources towards the maintenance of our aquifers, investing in advanced measurement tools, and implementing comprehensive planning processes. By prioritizing these initiatives, we are laying the groundwork for effective water management practices that will ensure the sustainability of Idaho's water resources for years to come.

Reducing tax burdens on Idaho citizens remains a top priority. It is imperative that we explore avenues to alleviate the strain of high property taxes on homeowners.

In addition to our efforts to lower property taxes, we are committed to supporting counties by assuming the costs associated with criminal defense. By shouldering this responsibility, we mitigate the financial burden on counties, thereby helping to keep property taxes at manageable levels.

Furthermore, we have implemented measures to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness within the criminal defense system. This includes extending support to juveniles within the defense system, resulting in significant cost savings for counties. By implementing these initiatives, we are working towards achieving our goal of reducing tax burdens while ensuring the continued prosperity of Idaho communities.
